The current market price of plywood typically ranges from tens to hundreds of yuan per sheet, with significant variations depending on factors such as material, specifications, thickness, brand, and market supply and demand. For example, ordinary poplar plywood (1220mm×2440mm×9mm) might cost 50-80 yuan per sheet, while plywood made from high-end materials like imported birch or oak (of the same specifications) could cost 150-300 yuan per sheet. Custom thicknesses (such as 15mm or 18mm) or special processes (such as moisture-proofing or fire-retardant treatment) will further increase the price.
From a technical perspective, plywood is made by gluing three or more layers of veneer together perpendicular to the grain direction. This structure gives it both anisotropy (high longitudinal strength and good transverse stability) and dimensional stability, effectively preventing cracking and deformation. According to the national standard GB/T 9846-2015, plywood is classified into three categories (I, II, and III) based on its appearance quality. Category I plywood (weather-resistant plywood) must pass a 72-hour boiling test without delamination, and its price is typically 30%-50% higher than Category III plywood (for general indoor use).
In terms of application scenarios, furniture manufacturing (such as wardrobes and bookshelves) requires high flatness and load-bearing capacity of plywood, often using Category I or II plywood with a thickness of 12-18mm. Interior decoration (wall decoration, ceilings) prioritizes environmental friendliness, requiring boards produced with E0 or ENF grade adhesives. The packaging materials sector primarily uses inexpensive Category III poplar plywood.
Industry standards have strict regulations on parameters such as the moisture content of plywood (8%-12%), formaldehyde emission (E0 grade ≤0.05mg/m³), and bond strength (≥0.7MPa). When purchasing, carefully check the test report to avoid buying products with excessive moisture content (prone to deformation) or insufficient bonding strength (prone to delamination) due to low prices. Furthermore, imported plywood, due to its superior raw materials and advanced processing, is generally 20%-50% more expensive than domestic plywood; however, it's essential to confirm whether it meets Chinese environmental standards. We currently offer Grade A birch plywood in our store, which boasts high bending strength, is easy to cut and drill, and is suitable for furniture manufacturing and decoration.
